The Pagoda Treasurer’s Trustees, in uplifting Pariyatti Sasana, hold the State Pariyatti exam annually. The exam is divided into two categories: monks aged between 20 and 30 recite Buddhist scriptures, and upon passing the recitation examination, they are allowed to participate in the written examination. In the other category, only monks aged up to 35 are allowed to take part in the written examination on Buddhist scriptures. After passing the respective examinations, monks are awarded the Cetīya-abhivaṃsa titles, while those in the other category are awarded the Cetīya Pariyatti Dharmmacariya Gantavacaka titles. Those who pass all three exams within one year receive Vatamsaka titles. The awarding ceremony is held to confer the respective titles to the monks, and the Shwedagon Pagoda Board of Trustees donates cash to the monks and records the events. Additionally, the monks residing in the Yangon Region during Waso are also given cash donations.
