The replica golden stupa, cast from 2,667.68 ticals of gold, is located between the Shwedagon Pagoda’s Tuesday and Wednesday corners, near the U San Chein pavilion. It is modeled after the Shwedagon Pagoda itself but at 1/90th of its size. The replica stupa stands at 45 inches in height, and surrounding it are four main stupas and 64 smaller stupas, totaling 68 stupas. The golden replica is adorned with one large diamond, 241 smaller diamonds, 701 jade stones, 1,895 rubies, 242 sapphires, and 159 blue sapphires, making a total of 3,239 precious gems.
The gold stupa was cast at the Myanmar Gem Industry on March 8, 1999, completed on April 22, 1999, and ceremonially carried to the Shwedagon Pagoda on April 28, 1999, for public veneration.
