In the 1948, two Marble Buddha’s Footprints were enshrined in the Bodhi Mandai Pavilion at the Tuesday corner of the Shwedagon Pagoda. Due to deterioration, it was decided to replace them with two bronze Buddha’s Footprints. This project was overseen by the Yangon Division Saṁgha Nāyaka Committee Chairman, and prominent monks, including Agga Mahā Paṇḍita Dr. Bhaddanta Aggasāmi, and Bhaddanta Nāradābhivansa (Hla Ya Da Nar) of the Nyaung Done Kyaung Taik, Bahan Township.

The task was assigned to U Tin Wa and U Htay Hlaing, with the casting done by Pyaywa Myanmar Traditional Bronze Casting Art Enterprise in Tampawadi, Mandalay, completed on October 12, 2023. The bronze Buddha Footprints, containing nine types of metals and approximately 37 Kyattha (604 g) of pure gold, were transported to Yangon and enshrined at the Shwedagon Pagoda on October 14, 2023. The Buddha Footprints were consecrated on October 19, 2023, with a ceremony involving eleven senior Ovādācariya monks and twelve other monks. The bronze Buddha’s Footprints are five feet six inches long, two feet four inches wide, and two inches thick, weighing 69 visses for the left footprint and 71 visses for the right footprint. They are enshrined with various relics and historical items, including gold plates with inscriptions, Bodhi leaves from Bodh Gaya, and precious stones.
