The Sun-Moon Buddha Image is enshrined within the Nela Shrine Hall, located on the southern side of the Shwedagon Pagoda platform, in the Sun-Moon pavilion. In front of the Sun-Moon Gandhakuṭi Hall, there are symbolic depictions: a peacock statue within the sun circle and a rabbit statue within the moon circle, along with two dragons, which were constructed during a prosperous era under the leadership of an elder known as Botaw U Tin Aye. In earlier times, the area in front of the Sun-Moon Buddha Image’s shrine was a popular spot where devotees made abundant offerings during religious ceremonies.
