The renovation donors of the Southern adoration hall located on the southern platform of the Shwedagon Pagoda are U Ba Yee and Daw Than May’s family. The Spire of the Hall is adorned with gilded wooden carvings, golden window panels, columns, and skylight floral designs. These elements are decorated with gold leaf, making the hall a grand and ornate structure. Inside the hall stands the Koṇāgamaṇa Buddha Statue.
As part of the comprehensive renovation project in 2005, the hall’s double-tiered window panels were fitted with ceramic floral tiles. In 2008, the damage caused by Cyclone Nargis led to the collapse of the main Hall’s roof structure and the tilting of the side pavilion roofs, which were subsequently restored and reinforced during the renovation efforts.
