The Blood-Cleansing Pond, connected to the history of the Shwedagon Pagoda, is located to the right of the northern entrance. This pond had been buried underground for many years. In 1996-97, during excavation for the construction of the northern entrance stairway, the pond’s structure and stairs were discovered and subsequently restored. According to the history of the Shwedagon Pagoda, during its construction, there were volunteers who got tired, suffered from headaches, or fainted so that the Endra created that pond with power and made them drink the water from the Blood-Cleansing Pond and all ailments were cured by its mystical powers.
