This is a pavilion located near the Aung Mye area of the Shwedagon Pagoda platform. The year it was originally built is unknown. It was constructed and donated by Daw Phwa. On October 28, 1871, during the donation of the new umbrella (hti) by King Mindon to the revered Shwedagon Pagoda, the old umbrella was temporarily housed here. Again, during the replacement of the new umbrella in 1999, the original umbrella donated by King Mindon was temporarily housed in this location, hence it is called “Htidawyone pavilion.”
It is also known as “Cetiyṅgana Association pavilion ” because the Cetiyṅgana Association, which organized the Cetiyṅgana Pariyatti Examination, was once located here. In 2008, the structure above the pillars collapsed due to the impact of Cyclone Nargis, but it was restored to its original condition. In 2015, the floor was tiled with polished stones, and in 2019, the statues, platforms, and floral decorations inside the pavilion were covered with gold leaf. In 2023, restoration and painting works were carried out.
