In the Myanmar Era 1097 (1735 CE), the Western adoration hall was first built and donated by the chief queen of King Tharrawaddy. Due to weather damage, it was rebuilt in 1840. In 1900 (Myanmar Era 1262), Broker U Aung Gyi and Daw Saw Nyunt’s family spent 120,000 rupees to further renovate and reconstruct the hall. In 1931, a fire destroyed the hall, along with ancient sculptures and carvings, including figures from the Rāma Plays. Inside the hall, the Kassapa Buddha Statue is enshrined. The Western adoration hall is currently maintained by the Treasury Trustees’ Committee. After the damage caused by Cyclone Nargis in 2008, the multiple tiers of the hall were restored and renovated.
