Sakka/ Indra and Mai Lamu statues can be found at the upper southwest corner between the Saturday and Thursday corners of the Shwedagon Pagoda’s main terrace. Sakka/ Indra and Mai Lamu were the parents of King Okkalapa, the original donor of the Shwedagon Pagoda. According to ancient chronicles, Sakka/ Indra helped protect the pagoda with the assistance of various deities.
